INCT-TB is headquartered in Research Center for Molecular and Functional Biology (CPBMF-PUCRS) from Institute of Biomedical Research,
located on Science and Technology Park at PUCRS (TECNOPUC)
in the city of Porto Alegre. The laboratories of CPBMF-PUCRS research group has infrastructure for
biomedical research in a total area of approximately 700 m2.
The facilities of the CPBMF allow studies on molecular biology,
prokaryote and eukaryote cell culture, protein purification, spectroscopy and enzymology,
chemical synthesis, thermodynamics, Surface Plasmon Resonance equipment, and mass spectrometry.
Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory (CPBMF-NB3):
The facilities of CPBMF-PUCRS include a multiuser Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) containment laboratory , which is required for proper
manipulation of biological agents that may cause serious or potentially lethal disease as a result of exposure by the
inhalation route such as
M. tuberculosis.
The BSL-3 laboratory is a modern facility designed according to national and international biosafety requirements and guidelines.
Preclinical Testing Laboratory:
The facilities of CPBMF-PUCRS also include a preclinical testing laboratory which is separate containment laboratory is specifically designed for handling animals (rodents).
