INCT-TB proposal is innovative because it contemplates a focused approach to developing chemical compounds active against validated targets of M. tuberculosis, and a rational approach to develop new vaccines and novel phenotypic and molecular tests to prevent TB and detect the bacillus, respectively. The most cherished hope of INCT-TB is to develop an effective anti-TB agent, an efficient vaccine, and molecular diagnostic tools to control tuberculosis with the approach “from bench top to bed side”.
